SHRI MAHAJAN CONVENES MEETING WITH SECRETARIES & SENIOR OFFICIALS TO DISCUSS GOVERNMENT BUSINESS DURING MONSOON SESSION OF PARLIAMENT
New Delhi ~ July 13, 2001
Union Minister for Information Technology & Parliamentary Affairs Shri Pramod Mahajan today convened a meeting with Secretaries & Senior officials of various Government departments to discuss and identify the Government business during the forthcoming monsoon session of Parliament which is commencing on 23rd July 2001. The session will provide 29 sittings and is likely to adjourn on 31st August 2001. The meeting identified certain important Bills which the Government intends to bring forward for consideration and passing during the forthcoming session. The Bills are:
The Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers" Rights Bill 2000 as reported by Joint Committee
The Live-Stock Importation (Amendment) Bill 2001 (To replace Ordinance)
The Uttar Pradesh Sugarcane Cess (Validation) Repeal Bill 2001
The Sugarcane Cess (Validation) Repeal Bill 2001
The Food Corporations (Amendment) Bill 2001 (To replace Ordinance)
The Warehousing Corporations (Amendment) Bill 2001
The Indian Council of World Affairs Bill 2001
The Banking Companies (Legal Practitioners Clients' Accounts) Repeal Bill 2001
The General Insurance Business (Nationalisation) Amendment Bill 2001

In addition to the above mentioned business
the resolution regarding imposition of Presidents Rule in the State of
Manipur will be brought forward for consideration and adoption by both Houses of Parliament before 2nd August 2001.
Priority will also be given for Consideration Discussion and Voting on Supplementary Demand for Grants (General) for 2001-2002 and Demand for Excess Grant (General) for 1998-99.
