DCA sets up complaints committee for sexual harassment cases

The Department of Company Affairs (DCA) has set up a seven-Member Complaints Committee for redressal of complaints relating to sexual arassment of women employees in the Department and its field offices. Any victim can lodge a complaint with the Committee. The Committee will ensure time bound treatment of complaints made by any woman employee. This is intended to safeguard the dignity and human rights of women employees. The Complaints Committee will be headed by Ms. Sutapa Majumdar Joint Director. It will include a representative of All India Women's Conference, Sarojini House, Bhagwan Das Road, New Delhi.

The Complaints Committee has been constituted following instructions contained in the Ministry of Personnel Public Grievances and Pensions Office Memorandum of February 13 1998 regarding guidelines and norms to be observed to prevent sexual harassment of working women as per the direction of the Supreme Court in its judgement in Vishaksha Vs. State of Rajasthan in 1997.
