P.M. CONGRATULATES MR. KHATAMI ON HIS RE-ELECTION

The Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee has congratulated President Khatami of Iran on his re-election. In his letter the Prime Minister said:
It gives me great pleasure to extend my warmest felicitations on your re-election as the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Your victory reflects the continuing faith of the Iranian people in your inspiring leadership and the progress achieved by your country under your wise guidance. I retain very pleasant memories of my recent visit to Iran and of our fruitful discussions. My government remains committed to the vision embodied in our Tehran Declaration" and to strengthening our multifaceted relations with Iran for the mutual benefit of our peoples. I take this opportunity to renew to your Excellency and to Mrs. Zohra Sadeghi our invitation to visit India. Your visit would be yet another important landmark in our bilateral relations. Please accept Excellency my best wishes for your good health and for the welfare and prosperity of the friendly people of Iran."
