New Delhi, Delhi, India
On the occasion of International Women's Day (8th March) Rai Foundation announces 200 GirlGenius / GiftedGirls Scholarship for underprivileged and orphan girl students. Rai Foundation is an NGO committed to address various socio-economic problems of India and its people. Social uplift is highly dependent on the education and literacy level of the people, specially the woman. And no society can move forward with out empowering girl child with quality education.
Rai Foundation believes that quality education is an empowerment talisman for the girl child. We are all aware of the remarkable role education plays in empowering the girl-child. Professional higher education is very crucial; it equips the girl with career competencies, leading to secure remunerative placement in industry and apt place in the society.
There is thus a great need to provide quality degree programs to orphaned girl-students, and that too in a variety of fields viz. hospitality, fashion, media, management, arts, engineering etc. However neither the private nor the public sector has yet come forth with efforts to bridge this glaring gap in inclusive education.
Recognizing the need of the hour, RF, with its strong commitment to women's empowerment, has initiated two unique scholarships to empower the most deserving female students. Termed the "GirlGenius" (for the poor girls) and the "GiftedGirl" (for the Orphan Girl), these scholarships will be awarded to 200 young women students each year; 100 under each category.
The Full Scholarships, for studying under any UG/PG program at Rai Foundation, will be awarded to brilliant students hailing from inadequate financial backgrounds; who have passed Senior Secondary School examination (Minimum) under a recognized board and seek to pursue higher studies. An eminent jury will select the scholars from the nominations made by Schools, Colleges and NGOs.
An individual scholarship includes:
-- 100% Tuition fee waiver for the entire duration of course (1yr, 2yrs, 3yrs),
-- 100% Placement Assistance
-- Free Hostel Accommodation
-- Mess Charges through summer vacations (only for "Gifted Girl")
The scholarship will be announced in June'07. Rai Foundation aims to reach to like-minded organizations and individuals working in various parts of the country. The endeavor is to bring the message home and reach far and wide for the benefit of girls. Through this scholarship RF is executing Child Care Rai Foundation's objectives in India. CCRF http://ccrf.in/scolarship_page.htm is an NGO with a global mission of safeguarding children's right of education and decent living.
