The media had reports on January 06, 2007 that Pantaloon Retail (India) Ltd. plans to spin off its 'Central' mall division to create a new company. Further, the company also plans to acquire a travel portal in the country.
The Exchange, in order to verify the accuracy or otherwise of the information reported in the media and to inform the market place so that the interest of the investors is safeguarded, had written to the officials of the company.
Pantaloon Retail (India) Ltd. has vide its letter inter-alia stated, "We would like to clarify that our Director has been quoted out of context pertaining to query raised by the journalist about seamless mall business/ other business models. We would like to inform that the Board of Directors of the Company haven't taken any decisions on the said business. The news item is media speculation and as a policy company doesn't comment on media speculations."
