Mumbai, January 31, 2007: Mobile Magic India Pvt. Ltd. is a company by a trio of Mr. Vijay Singh, Mr. Vivek Palod and Mr. Ravi Kedia who were into trading and had small retail outlets came together to form the first and the largest retail chain of mobile shops in India.
Their first company owned outlet was started on 14th July 2004 in Nagpur. They already have 60 operational outlets in 4 states - Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Gujarat.
The boom in the telecom industry has given rise to new business opportunities for retailing of mobile phones in India. It's a Rs. 75,000 crore business, growing at over 20% per year comprising of handsets, airtime and accessories.
The annual sale of handsets by Mobile Magic in states like Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Chattisgarh is around 5 Lakhs 25000 handsets.
The company has adopted an innovative approach to tap the huge latent demand. As in the past, their focus would remain tier II and tier III cities to cater to the large customer base present there, before moving on to tier 1 cities. This reverse model has worked extremely well for them. They have plans of opening 200 showrooms by March 2007 and will soon start their showrooms in Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Haryana, TamilNadu, Jharkhand, Gujarat (North), and Rajasthan.
They have been awarded as the 'Concept of the Year' award at the Franchise Awards' 06 at Delhi on December 03, 2006.
