The India Semiconductor Association (ISA) is set to hold its second international business conference for the semiconductor and electronics industry the ISA Vision Summit 2007. It is the only event of its kind in the region and aims to draw domestic and global leaders from the sector. The two day conference is scheduled on February 5 and 6 2007 at Hyderabad and will be inaugurated by the Honourable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. He would also release of the national directory of semiconductor companies. Several senior bureaucrats are also expected to be present given the growing importance of the sector. States like West Bengal are also expected to showcase their capabilities at the conference.
India is a growing market for electronic products and is expected to reach USD 363 billion by 2015 growing at a CAGR of nearly 30%. There is a strong link between semiconductors and electronics, with chips driving the innovation in electronic equipment. India's semiconductor design industry had a turnover of USD 3.2 billion in 2005 and is expected to grow to USD 43 billion by the year 2015, growing at a CAGR of 30%. "It is the right time for India to showcase its capabilities and draw global attention to the potential of this market. At ISA our goal is to have India become a global brand in the electronics and semiconductor industry driven by technology and quality products," said Poornima Shenoy, President, India Semiconductor Association.
The theme of the conference is 'Global Competitiveness - India as a key player in the electronics eco-system". Shri Pallam Raju Minister of State for Defence and a qualified professional with roots in the semiconductor industry would speak on this theme at the inauguration. Global leaders from the industry would enlighten delegates with their perspectives on the impact of innovation, research & design and collaborations. Bryan Lewis of Gartner Dataquest, Charlie Bullock of SVB Alliant, Jodi Shelton of FSA, Ajai Chowdhry Founder HCL, Dr Vinod K Agrawal of SemIndia are some of the speakers expected to present at Vision Summit 2007. The VS panel would see global speakers from the VC world and set guidelines for emerging entrepreneurs in the industry.
The topics covered at the event will give different perspectives on India's role in the global electronics arena. Some of the topics include intellectual property ownership as the driver of innovation, building & delivering products in a complex eco system, strategies driving growth and competitiveness, the road ahead for technology start-ups and the emerging market opportunities in VLSI design and embedded software. Vision Summit 2007 has participation from CXOs of globally leading semiconductor companies, academia, market analysts and media. It would provide a platform for networking and collaboration for all stakeholders of the industry. Delegates are expected from the US, Singapore, Japan, Israel, Europe besides India.
The ISA-EYI study on the global competitiveness of India in the semiconductor design industry would be released at the conference .
