The Honorable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy inaugurated ISA Vision Summit 2007, the only international business conference for the semiconductor and electronics design industry today. Also present at the inauguration were Shri Pallam Raju, Minister of State for Defence, Government of India, Dr Debesh Das, IT Minister of West Bengal and Jodi Shelton, Executive Director, Fabless Semiconductor Association.
The Honorable Chief Minister released the ISA semicon directory 2007 at the inauguration. Speaking on the occasion, he said, "We have showed that AP is the best destination for investments considering the availability of excellent infrastructure, logistics, uninterrupted power and water supply, which is essential for manufacturing sector of the semiconductor industry. The investment climate in the state is sound and I personally invite you to invest in the industry in Hyderabad".
Speaking on the theme of the conference Shri Pallam Raju, Minister of State for Defence said, " As the world heads towards increasing usage of high-end electronics in security and surveillance in weapons and missiles, space and network centric warfare, it will lead to significant developments in the sector that will spurt the growth of the electronics in the semiconductor industry."

As the industry body for the sector we are committed to further this growth by bringing together industry, government and academia on the same platform," said Poornima Shenoy, President, India Semiconductor Association.
"India is a fast growing semiconductor economy with full potential to overtake the US industry and would be the third largest semiconductor market owing its strengths in IT and growing instances of foreign companies looking for partnerships," said Jodi Shelton, Executive Director, Fabless Semiconductor Association.
The first day of the conference saw well-known industry stalwarts giving their perspectives on IP, product development and strategies for driving growth and competitiveness. Global speakers included Bryan Lewis Research VP & Chief Analyst Semiconductor ASIC/SOC/FPGA Gartner Dataquest, Aurangzeb Khan Corporate VP Market Development Cadence Design Systems and Dan Weed Senior VP Customer Engineering Tensilica.
The conference also provided a platform for interactions with academicians from leading engineering colleges like the IITs and IISc to participate in industry interactions.
