Viswam Sports Network Launches Indian Premier Cricket League

Viswam Sports Network, a sports startup has launched Indian Premier Cricket League. The league is a Twenty20 cricket league with city-based teams playing during weekends in a regular season every year. It is patterned after the leagues like NBA, NFL in USA.

T. Viswanatha Reddy, Founder and CEO, Viswam Sports Network, said "Twenty20 cricket is a lively form of cricket that is attractive to spectators on ground and viewers on television. Viswam Sports wants cricket lovers all over India to embrace the new premier cricket league and support their favorite city team on every weekend during the playing season."

The first season of premier cricket league (PCL) starts in January 2008. There are 6 teams from south playing in the southern division and 6 teams from north playing in the northern division. The teams play in either their home field or at the opponents home field. The southern cities include Hyderabad, Vishakapatnam, Bangalore, Chennai and Cochin. The northern cities include Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkota, Pune and Chandigarh. Both, Hyderabad and Mumbai have two teams playing in the league.
