ISB's Rolling Placements Season in Full Swing

Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India

The Rolling Placement Season which began in October 2006 is in full swing at the Indian School of Business (ISB). Over 190 companies have already registered for placement interviews, as compared to 143 that recruited at the ISB last season. This number is likely to go up as the Placement Season progresses over the next two months.

Talking about the Rolling Placements, M Rammohan Rao - Dean, ISB, said, "The Indian economy is on a sharp growth curve, it provides plenty of opportunities for our students to grow with it. Our students are expressing immense confidence in making choices that suit long term career prospects over immediate salaries. Taking a balanced view and opting for strong roles irrespective of the compensation is truly a mark of maturity. I am glad to see that the youth of India are demonstrating confidence in their abilities and in our economy."

Companies from 'Non-traditional' sectors increased: This year, the ISB has attracted several international and domestic companies from 'non-traditional' sectors. Of particular interest are microfinance companies, NGOs, Real estate, Retail, Infrastructure such as steel, cement, oil and natural gas and several others. Some of the companies that may be mentioned are Holcim Ltd, Tischman Speyer, Italcementi S.p.A, Arcelor Mittal, Santos etc. They are looking at recruiting students from the ISB for senior management roles.

MNCs recruiting for senior positions overseas offices: There has been a substantial increase in the number of overseas offices of many MNC's expressing interest in recruiting from the ISB. The positions on offer include international assignments, including several at leadership levels. These offers are in addition to those made by the India offices of these companies. Some such companies are Colgate - Palmolive Company Inc, Goldman Sachs International, Deutsche Bank AG, Booz Allen Hamilton (UK) Ltd, Mercer Management Consulting, and KPMG- Australia.

Europe and Australia: For the first time since the last five years, the ISB has attracted companies from Australia and Italy. Leading companies based in Germany, Switzerland, Middle East, USA, UK, Singapore etc are visiting the campus.

Commenting further, V K Menon, Director, Career Advancement Services, ISB, said, "Companies recruiting at the ISB consider us as a strategic partner in their growth plans both in India as well as abroad. They get to recruit professionals who are on par with the best in the world. I believe there is an increasing trend of recognition of the Indian leadership potential."

The Rolling Placement Process began in October 2006, with the ISB's Career and Alumni Services (CAS) team inviting companies to recruit at the ISB. Companies are invited to meet students through Pre Placement Talks, which took place in January 2007. The interviewing process is presently underway, and will continue until first week of April, 2007, when the current Class of 2007 graduates.

More companies will visit the ISB campus through the placement season. The ISB's unique, recruiter-friendly Rolling Placement Process, assists organisations to make well-considered hiring decisions for their middle and senior management positions. The extended timeframe of the Process gives recruiters and students adequate time and opportunity to interact with each other, ensuring the best fit for the individual and the organisation.
