Sharon Prabhakar's 'Dilruba' Wins Silver Award at the New York Festival

Sharon Prabhakar's much awaited music album 'Dilruba' a glorious celebration of the singer's warm, honey toned singing style has been released on Raga To Rock Records. The video of 'Dilruba' created by Rajtaru Studios and Sarra Unlimited and Directed by Shehnaz Nadirshah featuring popular TV star Akashdeep Saigal has recently won the silver award at the New York Festival, It has been unanimously praised for its state-of-the-art graphics and brilliant special effects.

The title song Dilruba, created by Tauseef Akhter and penned by lyricist Sameer is a superb hypnotic Arabic hip hop song bound to keep her fans feet tapping for a long time. Its sensuous rhythms, rich lyrical content with vocals that seem to glide along effortlessly, are an amalgamation of four months of intense studio work and engineering mastery in London. The rest of the songs are a collection of Sharon's favorite songs including the one that initiated the singer in to the world of music... we're talking about the delightful 'Aa Mere Jaisi Haseena'.

Sharon has come a long way ever since she first burst into the musical arena with 'Aa Mere Jaisi Haseena' for music director, Bappi Lahiri in the film, 'Armaan.' In 1985, Sharon won the 'Singer of the Year' award for this song. it was apparent that Sharon was an artist that was here to stay. Sharon then embarked on a world tour. The Madison Square Gardens, The Royal Albert Hall, the Kenyatta Conference Hall, Sharon packed them in show after show. From the year 1995 to 2000 Sharon traveled extensively, simultaneously representing India at Pop Festivals the world over.

In 2001, she represented India in Singapore as one of seven artists selected worldwide from popularity poll. From 2002 to 2005, Sharon successfully balanced her love for the theater with her ongoing pop tours. In 2006 she felt it was time to do an album, To mix the contemporary with her personal favorites. The result was a collection of her favorites spearheaded by the superb, trendy Arabic hiphop 'Dilruba,' penned by the lyric maestro Sameer, with music composed by the young Talented Tauseef Akhtar.

The music Cassettes and CD's are priced at Rs. 50/- and Rs. 99/- respectively.
