Lipicard's KeraKlear®- Clear Solution for Dry Eyes

Lipicard's KeraKlear 0.05% is another high therapeutic index drug developed through its novel platform technology. Lipicard has developed a large number of high therapeutic index drugs in many therapeutic areas including cardiology, NSAID, immunosuppressant etc., using a novel platform technology.

Lipicard's KeraKlear 0.05% is a novel NCE with a high level of solubility (60 times more soluble in water than Cyclosporine), and much lower toxicity (4.5 times less toxic than Cyclosporine). Even at higher concentration of 0.2% w/v, KeraKlear was found to be a clear solution, compared to emulsified Cyclosporine 0.05% ocular drops - the current prescription drug for dry eyes. KeraKlear's clear solution was also stable for over 18 months as indicated in the stability tests.

KeraKlear 0.05% has multiple advantages over Cyclosporine 0.05% emulsified solution

1. Higher efficacy than Cyclosporine measured through prophylactic study in rat model with induced ulcerative colitis
2. Better safety profile than Cyclosporine - Therapeutic index of 4.5 demonstrated by mean Disease Activity Index (DAI) in rat model
3. Clear solution - non irritating compared to emulsified Cyclosporine 0.05% ocular drops
4. Clear solution is stable as indicated in stability tests over 18 months
5. Patent protection for KeraKlear 0.05% whereas Cyclosporine 0.05% ocular drops is vulnerable to immediate generic competition
