Intra Ocular Implant and Refractive Society of India (IIRSI) organized its annual conference at India Habitat Center from 1st to 3rd September 2006. Top ophthalmologists from across India participating in the three-day conference discussed latest trends and breakthroughs in the field of Intra Ocular Implant and Refractive surgery and its impact on the Indian masses. The main theme of the conference is the convergence of refractive and cataract technologies: to help people completely do away with glasses. The three day conference will have several other topics in the conference were centered on this theme.
The conference is organized by Centre for Sight under the able leadership of its Chairman and Medical Director, Dr Mahipal Sachdev, one of the most prolific Ophthalmologists in India. Dr. Naresh Trehan, President, CII - IHF inaugurated the conference. Senior Ophthalmologist, Prof Low Cze Hong from the Singapore National Eye Center was the guest of Honor at the conference. Professor Hong shared his invaluable clinical experiences in the areas of "Presbyopic Lens Exchange" with fellow ophthalmologists participating at the conference.
Speaking at the opening ceremony Dr. Sachdev, Chairman IIRSI and Chairman and medical director, Centre for Sight, said "Indian ophthalmologists compare with the best in the world. With the advancement in technology, getting completely rid of glasses is available option for patients of all ages. This has been made possible by offering customized treatment modalities to the patients. Most of these Modalities are a hybrid of existing refractive and cataract technologies. The various sessions in the conference will address these technologies. An expert panel to demonstrate techniques to the delegates will conduct live surgeries. This will also be followed up with a public awareness lecture on the subject.
For the first time, the conference is also addressing the issue of Physician Practice Management. In today's world the Physician has to evolve from a pure clinician to a more well rounded professional who understand the nuances of management in order to run a successful practice. An entire session is dedicated to this subject. An expert panel will also discuss Topics like "Enhancing the Customer experience", "Financial aspect of a practice", and The role of Insurance in practice.
Apart from this the conference will be a forum for networking and fellowship.
