Mumbai, Maharashtra, India
The public at large is fully aware of my passion and love for Horse Racing. Not only do I buy, breed and race the finest thoroughbreds, I have been fortunate to win almost every important Classic Race in the Country including the Mc Dowells Indian Derby at Mumbai several times.
The most satisfying accomplishment in my racing career is the fact that I can hold my head high as an owner who has, perhaps, the finest and cleanest racing reputation in the Country.
I have played a part in the administration of Racing having been a Government-of -Karnataka-appointed Member of the Managing Committee of the Bangalore Turf Club as well as an elected Member of the Managing Committee of the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) for two years.
I quit my involvement in Club administration at RWITC because I could not remain a silent witness to non performance and lack of vision for the future. Sadly, I did not have the necessary majority on the RWITC Committee to accomplish what could have brought great benefit to the RWITC Members and the Racing Public.
I piloted the proposal for Night Racing and attendant facilities at my cost which was enthusiastically received and later torpedoed.
Encouraged by the winds of change in our country and the support of like minded friends, I have decided to contest the RWITC elections with the support of six candidates who have given me complete confidence in supporting my agenda to take RWITC into the 21st Century.
Basically, my key objectives are:
-To ensure clean, fair and in-corruptible racing standards
-To ensure that Mahalakshmi has a Club House that members can enjoy
-To ensure that the Pune facility is upgraded to meet the aspirations of the Pune members
-To ensure that Night Racing is implemented and sees the light of day
-To ensure that the youngsters come to enjoy the sport of racing and that RWITC becomes a destination of choice.
I acknowledge that I am a busy person. However, I wish to clarify that I would not have taken on the onerous task of leading a 7 member team into the election if I did not commit the necessary time and resources to achieve my agenda- if given the mandate by the RWITC Members.
It is sad that the interests of the RWITC have been compromised by groupism, personal agendas and a clear lack of focus and performance.
The sport of racing has been on the decline and it is now necessary to rejuvenate this for the benefit of all current stakeholders and to ensure continued public excitement and interest.
I will deliver the results if the team that I lead has the support of RWITC Members.
