Orb Energy Announces Launch of Its Solar Energy Business in Bangalore

Bangalore, Karnataka, India

Orb Energy ("Orb") today announced the commencement of operations in Bangalore, Karnataka, where the company will be assembling and marketing solar systems for back-up power and thermal applications.

Orb expects to invest $2.5 million in India, with plans to build a national branch network to support customers and ensure quality of delivery, installation, and after-sales service. The roll-out will begin in the state of Karnataka where the company aims to add 25 branches. Work with regional banks is also underway to ensure Orb customers receive attractive consumer finance packages.

Damian Miller, CEO of Orb Energy said "India is experiencing above average economic growth which has lead to strong demand for electric appliances. At the same time the average consumer or business suffers from unreliable power supply and increasing costs of grid electricity. Orb is able to offer customers a solar alternative that not only guarantees continuous power, but saves them money".

Orb expects to sell between 10 and 20 MWp of photovoltaic products over the next five years with plans to reach more than 100,000 residential and commercial customers.

NP Ramesh, Chief Operating Officer of Orb Energy explained "There is a real need for reliable back up power in India but somebody has to reach out to the consumer to make the solar alternative accessible. Orb intends to make buying and operating a solar system easy, affordable, and hassle-free. We will invest heavily in our staff, branch network and franchise partners to ensure we can deliver tailor-made solar solutions to our customers".

Within 5 years, the company expects to establish more than 250 jobs in its Indian operations.
