The much awaited two-wheeler launch of the Xenitis Group will hit the Indian roads in January 2007. Branded 'Xoom', these motorbikes would be available in four variants - 100cc, 125cc, 150cc and 180cc. Earlier this year the Xenitis Group floated a separate company, Global Motors, a joint venture Guangzhou Motors Company, China and them in November 2005 for the two-wheeler venture.

The launch will mark the foray of the ever evolving and diversified Xenitis Group of India into the automobile sector. The company plans to enter the market with four variants of its product namely 100cc, 125cc, 150cc and 180 cc motorcycles. This is more so in keeping with the requirements of the Indian market. Guangzhou Motors Company which is among the first two-wheeler manufacturers in China and has a wide reputation for motorbikes is providing Global Motors technical support for setting up the assembly line, production process and service network. They would also assist their India counterparts in product strategy of control, marketing and selling.

To begin with, Global Motors would bring the motorbikes in a semi-knocked down condition and assemble it. Once the manufacturing facility was complete, the company would go in for its own production. Besides motorbikes, the company also plans to launch gearless scooters in India very soon.

Speaking on these developments, Mr Santanu Ghosh, Chairman, Xenitis Group said that Global Motors is planning to start off its manufacturing capacity of 20,000 pieces of two-wheelers each month which could go up depending on the demand. The company had already acquired the necessary land for the same. He further mentioned that at present, the company is working on the pricing, branding and distribution channel of the bike.

Mr Ghosh also added that the manufacturing unit of Global Motors would initially employ 500 people which could scale upto 1000 soon.
