Huawei Technologies Bags Three Awards at the 2006 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific ICT Awards

New Delhi, Delhi, India

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., a leader in providing next generation networks for telecommunications operators around the world, announced on 19th June 2006 that it has been honored in three different categories in the 2006 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific ICT Awards. Huawei received the 2006 Vendor of the Year, 2006 Optical Vendor of the Year, and 2006 Broadband Equipment Vendor of the Year Awards, in one of Asia Pacific's key information and communications technology (ICT) awards program hosted annually by global growth consulting company Frost & Sullivan.

Repeating its performance last year where it also received three awards, Huawei is the only company to have ever been awarded three awards in any single year twice.

With an unwavering commitment to deliver a superior value proposition that meets customers' needs coupled with its hallmark emphasis on customer-driven research and development to develop market winning solutions, Huawei Technologies was named the Vendor of the Year based on its performance in 2005 including revenue growth, new customer wins and innovative strategy.

"We are delighted and extremely honored to receive the three awards from Frost & Sullivan," said Victor Wang, president, Huawei Technologies Asia Pacific. "These awards reaffirm our achievements as a reliable and innovative telecommunications and networking vendor with the ability to provide the best solutions to satisfy our customers' needs. Huawei will continue to focus our efforts on R&D as we work with the industry to deliver excellence to telecom operators around the world."

Recognized as Optical Vendor of the Year for the second year running, Huawei displayed its leadership with its breadth of products and solutions through significant market growth in 2005. As a leading supplier in the global optical market, Huawei provides a full set of NMS, DWDM, MSTP, intelligent optical transmission and SONET solutions. Huawei is devoted to bringing value-added solutions in network programming, technology innovation, and customized solutions to telecom operators globally.

In the broadband equipment category, Huawei offers a total solution comprising ADSL, ADSL2+, VDSL, and GPON technologies. Huawei is the world's first ADSL2+ commercial access equipment provider and continues to maintain its market leadership position in terms of ADSL2+ ports shipment.

According to Frost & Sullivan, Huawei shipped 8 million ADSL2+ ports in 2005, and supplied and deployed DSLAM and MSAN solutions in more than 60 countries worldwide.

"Huawei's outstanding growth in the last few years has caught the attention of the telecommunications industry. Having been able to meet the stringent requirements set by some tier-1 operators, and successfully become one of the approved vendors for Vodafone's Global supply chain and BT's 21st Century Network further reinforces the company's success not only in Asia Pacific, but also on the global front," said Sin Siew Teyew, head of telecoms research at Frost & Sullivan.

All nominees were evaluated on a variety of actual market performance indicators for financial year 2005, including revenue growth, market share and growth in market share, leadership in product innovation, breadth of products and solutions, major customer acquisitions, and business and market strategy. A team of Frost & Sullivan's leading analysts and consultants based across the region were involved in the short listing, evaluation and research process. The findings of the detailed examination were then presented to a panel of independent judges comprising influential personalities in the Asia Pacific ICT industry to determine the deserving recipient in each category.
