At the concluding day of TiE Entrepreneurial Summit 2006, some of the most successful entrepreneurs of India came together on a common platform to share strategies for building a vibrant India. Mr Narayanan Murthy, Chairman of the Board of Infosys Technologies Ltd was awarded the lifetime TiE Entrepreneurship Award for his contribution towards the Indian economy and for his exemplary business acumen.
In the opening session of the day on 'Building India,' Mr Nandan Nilekani, CEO & MD, Infosys Technologies Ltd emphasized the need for providing appropriate education facilities to foster economic growth. He also mentioned that infrastructure is the pressing issue which directly affects employee productivity. A serious effort by public-private partnership can solve this issue.
Ms Naina Lal Kidwai, CEO, HSBC India and country head, HSBC Group Companies in India, presented her views on building India. She said, "In order to cultivate true entrepreneurship we need to set up educational institutions that will build strong and willful individuals. Ms Kidwai also pointed out that women should be encouraged to participate in entrepreneurial activities.
While giving advice to the upcoming entrepreneurs, Mr Narayanan Murthy said, "We are living at a time where there are limitless opportunities for entrepreneurs. So, entrepreneurs will have to come out with simple powerful ideas that have market potential; put together a good team, embrace good value systems and work hard and smart."

During the session on Global Face of Indian Entrepreneurship, Mr. Nish Kotecha, founder of Sphere Partners, London-based financial advisory firm said, "If you succeed in India you have a better prospect in the global market. Because of the talent pool, India has the ability to churn successfully."
In the closing remarks Mr Sridar Iyengar, President TiE Global mentioned that the presence of 1300 delegates at the summit indicates the celebration of the spirit of Indian Entrepreneurship has been a success. It reinforces the statement of TiE Entrepreneurial Summit 2006 that India need not look outside for inspiration but that there are plenty of role models in India itself and they need to be recognised and celebrated.
