The Transformational Impact of Hand Carried Ultrasound
SonoSite, the recognized leader and innovator of the hand-carried ultrasound segment, shipped its first system in 1999, thereby ushering in a new era in diagnostic imaging where the benefits of high performance ultrasound could be brought to the point of care. Weighing between 1.5kg and 3.5kg, SonoSite's hand-carried systems boot up in seconds, are designed to withstand the rigors of highly mobile use and can operate on battery power for up to four hours.
The systems' mobility eliminate the delays, associated with the outpatient referral process or moving heavy, cart-based systems across hospital departments to scan patients. This can lead to increased accessibility and, improvement of patient care and safety and has the potential to reduce healthcare costs through earlier and more rapid diagnosis of diseases and conditions.
