LEX Nexus Adds Research Office and ATI AVOCATS for Legal Outsourcing

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

LEX Nexus, law firm that has an outstanding reputation for its quality work having offices in Mumbai and New Delhi, added a legal research office in Mumbai at Rajabahadur Mansion behind the Bombay Stock Exchange building from August 15, 2006 to strengthen its team for research based transactional work. The law firm specialises in the field of Admiralty & Shipping, Arbitration & Commercial litigation, Corporate & commercial, Projects concerning Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, Energy & Mining.

The research office will focus its efforts on the existing practice areas, which will now include services to domestic clients and expand into areas of Domestic arbitration, Banking & finance; Real Estate, Intellectual Property Rights, Entertainment and media.

Mr. Shrikant Hathi (Managing Partner) is of the view that 'Under the current partnership provisions a law firm cannot have more than twenty partners and with such restriction in place it is prudent to expand the non-partners lawyers' team. This is a core resource that ultimately determines the success of a firm'. He further adds that 'The existing regulatory restrictions in India, do not allow foreign law firms to setup offices in India, should this rule be relaxed which is anticipated to happen in the at some stage in near future, LEX Nexus would definitely prefer to merge or venture with a foreign law firm in order to consolidate its international practice and out reach capabilities.'

With addition of its research office, LEX Nexus has also started ATI AVOCATS at Mumbai that will process overseas legal work (legal outsourcing) as an alternate revenue stream in the areas of legal research, reviewing and drafting of document, litigation support, due-diligence support, claim processing, mortgage processing and other areas where a legal professional is involved.

LEX Nexus established its first office in 1998 in Mumbai and New Delhi in 2003. Today the firm has a strong international clientele representing some of the largest MNC's. International bodies like Legal500 have observed that "the firm has really started to make waves" and now the firm is vetted and recommended for its practice in the field of Admiralty & Shipping; Dispute Resolution; Projects and energy. Mr. Hathi, the Managing Partner of the firm is ranked as the 'Leading Individual' for shipping matters in India
