Sify Targets Small & Medium Businesses for Application Services

Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India

Sify Limited (Nasdaq: SIFY), a leader in Consumer Internet and Enterprise Services in India with global delivery capabilities, announced that it is targeting the fast growing Small & Medium Business (SMB) segment for its Application Services. Small & Medium Businesses represent the next wave of growth in IT services in India and comprise a large and growing market, with an estimated 7.4 million SMBs expected to spend in the region of $17.5 billion on IT & Telecom this year according to Nasscom, Indian IT industry's apex body. According to a study by the New York-based AMI-Partners, SMBs in India are expected to spend $7.7 billion in 2006 to enhance their infotech infrastructure and solutions, up 26 per cent from last year. Sify is targeting this segment by vertical for its specialized application software solutions, customizing them to their growing and diverse requirements.

Mr Rahul Swarup, President, Enterprise Solutions, Sify, said, "The first SMB vertical we are targeting is the stock broking segment, which is one of the fastest growing businesses in India. We have launched a basket of managed ASP (Application Services Provider) services for this segment that includes hosted mail & messaging, document management, hosting and digital security services like 'SafeBoot'- a solution which keeps data on PCs secure from misuse".

For example, Sify's 'DocImage', a multi-user, enterprise wise document management system digitizes leading financial services company Indiabulls Credit Services Ltd.'s (Indiabulls) loan application forms and supporting documents so that the documents are not lost, misplaced or mutilated due to repeated use. According to Mr. T.S Miglani, CTO, IndiaBulls, "Sify's DMS - DocImage has helped Indiabulls organize and archive our customer documentation for quick search and retrieval. The images of documents can now be retrieved from the system without referring to the original documents. Our turnaround times to service our clients has improved and processes streamlined, thanks to this software. Sify has also image enabled our existing core application so that we are able to view the data and images from the same core application that we were using."

For Geojit Financial Services (Geojit), Sify has developed an enterprise emailing solution that provides the backbone for sending out contract notes to their clients. The solution has helped Geojit in reducing costs on software licenses, maintenance expenses, infrastructure, 24/7 server operations etc. All of this has been achieved by Sify's solution running over its backbone infrastructure, and its cost effective mailing service.

According to Mr. A.Balakrishnan, CTO, Geojit, "Sify's Mailing process driven methodology has produced advance server performance, remote monitoring with alerts and value added infrastructure services. Another important aspect of our solution has been to implement SMTP Log transfer tracking, and security enhancements for the trading platform."

Sify's enterprise emailing solution will not only save costs for Geojit, but has also made communicating to customers easy, smooth and reliable. Geojit has also extended the enterprise mailing application to their own enterprise, Geojit Corporate, in a separate server with over 1500 users".

Sify intends to approach other verticals in the Small & Medium Businesses segment similarly by tailoring solutions according to the needs of the vertical.
