Food Parks Scheme reviewed
New Delhi: September 1, 2004

The scheme for assistance to the food parks is constantly reviewed in the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. It is a major scheme of the Ministry. Altogether 45 food parks have been approved in different states. The Ministry has decided that time-bound action shall be taken by the implementing agencies to remove the hurdles and expedite progress.

In the recent review the changes in the scheme's parameters were identified to make it more effective. It was also decided to hold the project approval committee meetings chaired by the Secretary every fortnight instead of once a month as done earlier. This would speed up project approvals.
