Development of Handloom Sector
New Delhi: September 1, 2004

A number of schemes are being implemented for the development of the handloom sector. The Schemes being implemented are as follows:

Deen Dayal Hathkargha Protsahan Yojana
Marketing Promotion Programme
Handloom Export Scheme
Mill Gate Price Scheme
Scheme for reimbursement of one time rebate @ 10 per cent given by the handloom agencies on the sale of handloom cloth.
Scheme for Reimbursement of CENVAT on Hank Yarn.
Workshed-cum-Housing Scheme.
Weavers Welfare Scheme.
Bunkar Bima Yojana.
Integrated Handloom Training Project.
Design Development & Training Programme.
Implementation of Handlooms (Reservation of Articles for Production) Act, 1985.

The Government is implementing the Handloom Export Scheme which provides for the assistance to handloom agencies in engaging the services of a designer for development of exportable products and participation in fairs and trade events held abroad. In 2002-03 and 2003-04, 30 projects have been sanctioned at a cost of Rs.4.05 crore.
