Suresh Pachouri takes over as MoS (Personnel)
New Delhi: May 24, 2004

Shri Suresh Pachouri assumed charge as Minister of State for Department Of Personnel & Training, DOPT, under the Home Ministry in his North-Block office, here today. Fifty-two year old Shri Pachouri had his education at the Maulana Azad College of Technology, Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh and Graduated in Mechanical Engineering.

Shri Suresh Pachouri entered Politics as a Youth Congress worker in the early Seventies and became General Secretary of the Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress (I) during 1981-83. He was first elected to the Rajya Sabha in April 1984. He was General Secretary of the All India Youth Congress during 1985-88 and was re-elected to the Rajya Sabha in 1990 and thereafter continuously re-elected to the Upper House. He was also the Minister of State at the Centre during 1995-96 for Defence Production and Supplies.

Shri Pachouri was a Member of the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Defence and was also nominated to the Panel of Vice-Chairman, Rajya Sabha in 2000.
