Sensex and small investors
New Delhi: May 23, 2004

Sensex has become an injurious casino turning small investors into gamblers. There are big brokers, many a times dancing to tune of their preferred big heavy-weights in politics or industry, who make the mercury dip low or rise high through sensex-barometers. Small investors having invested their hard-earned money in stocks are the only losers sometimes to the extent of losing everything to commit suicide through gambled losses of share-market. Even government-sponsored Unit Trust of India (UTI) deceived them all with the notorious UTI scandal in NDA regime.

It will be better if Union Government devises some scheme/s by which small investors may not be able or require doing gambling business in share-markets making this gamble-market a playground for big bullies only. New government should again make investments in government securities an attractive option.
