Team of doctors flown to Srinagar for the treatment of Moulavi Mushtaq

New Delhi: June 5, 2004

The Government of India has deputed a team of specialist Doctors comprising Dr. Praveen Aggarwal, Dr. Vimi Rewari, Dr. Anil Bhan and Dr. Rajat Kumar of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi to attend to Moulvi Mushtaq, a senior Awami Action Committee activist and uncle of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who was seriously injured in a terrorist attack on 29th May 2004.

Moulvi Mushtaq was shot by an unidentified youth with a pistol while he was offering Zuhar (afternoon prayer) inside a mosque. He is at present undergoing treatment in Sher-e-Kashmir Institue of Medical Sciences, Soura, Srinagar. The expert team of doctors has been rushed today to Srinagar by a special flight arranged by Ministry of Home Affairs, to assist the local doctors attending on him. The Government of India has assured all possible assistance in the treatment of Moulvi Mushtaq.
