Mass administation of medicines organised to curb the spread of Filaria on the occasion of National Filaria Day
New Delhi: June 5, 2004

On the occasion of National Filaria Day today, Government has distributed drugs freely to curb the spread of Filaria in the country. The medicine was administered to all the people in the two hundred and one endemic districts to curb the spread of Filaria. The Union Health and Family Welfare Minister, Shri Anbumani Ramdoss is the first person to take the medicine at the function at Thane, Mumbai, today.

Speaking at the function, organized to distribute the medicine, DEC tablets, Shri Ramdoss said that Government is determined to eradicate Filaria in the country by mass administration of drugs in all the endemic districts for the next five years. This is the first year of Mass Administration of Drugs. Shri Ramdoss said that the target of elimination of Filariasis will be achieved by 2015 as envisaged by National Health Policy 2002.
