Big Rise in Export of Steel
New Delhi: July 14, 2004

The export of steel (i.e., primary and semi-finished iron & steel bar/rod etc.) has almost trebled in value terms from Rs. 3501 crore in 2001-02 to Rs. 8517 crore during 2003-04 (April-November 2003). In quantity terms, exports have gone up from 3276909 metric tonnes in 2001-02 to 3605594 metric tonnes in 2003-04.

The major countries to which steel is being exported are Australia, Bahrain, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Belgium, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Congo, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Korea Republic, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mauritius, Nepal, Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Tanzania, Thailand, Trinidad, UAE, UK, USA and Yemen Arab Republic.
