Status of Software Technology Parks
New Delhi: July 14, 2004

As on date, 40 Software Technology Park of India Centres have been set up in the country under the aegis of Software Technology Parks of India (STPI). State-wise, six STPIs have been set up in Maharashtra, five each in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, & Tamilnadu, four in Uttar Pradesh, two in Orissa and one each in Assam, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Pondicherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttaranchal and West Bengal.

Stating this in a written reply to a question by Shri Dushyant Singh in the Lok Sabha today, the Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Dr. Shakeel Ahmad informed the Members that during the Tenth Plan, 25 more STPI Centres would be set up at various locations. During the first two years i.e. 2002-03, 2003-04, STPI has set up 5 new Centres at Pondicherry, Nashik, Allahabad, Kolhapur and Ranchi. Fifteen more locations have been approved for implementation which are at Agra, Agartala, Bhopal, Durgapur, Gangtok, Goa, Gurgaon, Gwalior, Imphal, Jammu, Jodhpur, Kharagpur, Shillong, Patiala and Patna, the Minister added.
