Computerisation of Post Offices
New Delhi: July 14, 2004

Till date, 2142 Post Offices have been computerised in the country. State/UT wise the number of computerised post offices in Andhra Pradesh is 161, Arunachal Pradesh 14, Assam 54, Bihar 35, Chhattisgarh 36, Delhi (NCT) 97, Goa 7, Gujarat 110, Haryana 62, Himachal Pradesh 60, Jammu & Kashmir 6, Jharkhand 9, Karnataka 224, Kerala 236, Madhya Pradesh 103, Maharashtra 325, Manipur 3, Meghalaya 4, Mizoram 1, Nagaland 6, Orissa 61, Punjab 88, Rajasthan 63, Sikkim 1, Tamilnadu 199, Tripura 8, Uttar Pradesh 25, Uttaranchal 41, West Bengal 80, Andaman & Nicobar 1, Chandigarh 12, Daman & Diu 2, Lakshadweep 1 and Pondicherry 7. This was stated by the Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Dr. Shakeel Ahmad in a written reply to a question by Shri Bikash Chowdhury in the Lok Sabha today.

The Minister further informed the Members that computers are provided to the post offices where the traffic and counter operations are relatively higher.
