New Delhi: August 16, 2004

Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited (NLC), a public sector unit of the Department of Coal, Government of India, will have to produce 21.45 million tonnes (MT) of lignite during 2004-05 to get excellent MoU rating.

The budget estimate of the company for the year 2004-05 was set to produce 21 MT. This information was given in the Memorandum of Understanding signed by NLC with the Government for the year 2004-05. The company has taken up to produce 16,500 million units of power to get excellent rating against a budget estimate of 15,286 million units for the year. The very good MoU target for lignite production has been set at20.06 MT and for power at 15,700 million units.
