Government is targeting creation of five crore employment opportunities during the 10th Plan period. Out of this, nearly 3 crore employment opportunities will be created in the normal growth process and the remaining 2 crore through special employment generation programmes. Stating this in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today, the Minister for Labour and Employment Shri Sis Ram Ola said that the approach to Tenth Plan focusses on providing gainful employment to the additions to the labour force and it is listed as one of the monitorable objectives for the 10th Plan and beyond. He said the growth strategy of 10th Plan has laid emphasis on rapid growth of those sectors, which have high employment potential.
