Fixation/revision of prices of bulk drugs Glipizide, Dextropropoxyphene Hc1 and Dextropropoxyphene Napsylate
New Delhi: August 16, 2004

The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has fixed/revised the prices of bulk drugs Glipizide, Dextropropoxyphene Hcl and Dextropropoxyphene Napsylate. The notified price of bulk drug Glipizide has been revised from Rs.29744.00/Kg to Rs.31584/Kg and Dextropropoxyphene Hcl from3748.00/Kg to Rs.3997.00/Kg. The price of Dextropropoxyphe Napsylate has been fixed for the first time at Rs.5357/Kg. These prices were fixed/revised vide notification in the Gazette of India Extraordinary S.O. No.921 (E) to 922 (E) dated 13th August 2004.

The prices in respect of bulk drugs Glipizide and Dextropropoxyphene Hcl have been revised after conducting the details Cost cum Techno-Economic Study of M/s USV Ltd. (for Glipizide), and M/s Wockhardt, M/s Hy-Gro and M/s Jagsonpal (for Dextropropoxyphene Hcl). The price of Dextropropoxyphene Napsylate is fixed based on the Form I submitted by M/s Wockhardt. The notifications are also available on the NPPA website www.nppaindia.nic.in .

The revised notified price shall become effective within 15 days from the date of notification in the Official Gazette. All the manufacturers of the formulations utilizing the drug in their scheduled formulations are advised to follow the provisions of DPCO, 1995 with regard to pricing of the derivative formulations.
