Rice exports from central pool
New Delhi: August 16, 2004

India exported rice to 33 countries during the last 3 years. The effective export price of par boiled rice during the financial year 2003-2004 was Rs. 7800 per metric tonne while the prices were Rs. 6865 and Rs. 6000 per metric tonne during 2002-2003 and 2001-2002 respectively. The effective export price of raw rice during the financial year 2003-2004 was Rs. 7600 per metic tonne. The prices of rice for export in 2001-2002 was Rs. 5650 per metric tonne and Rs. 6510 per metric tonne in 2002-2003. The subsidy released to FCI in respect of stocks of both rice and wheat lifted for export from central pool during the financial years 2003-2004 is Rs. 3621 crore while it is Rs. 5743 crore for 2002-2003 and Rs. 1368 crore for 2001-2002. Only certain WTO compatible expenses are reimbursed to the exporters.

This information was given in Lok Sabha today by Dr. Akhilesh Prasad Singh, Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in a written reply to a question by Shri Chandra Sekhar Dubey.
