NCC delegation returns from United Kingdom
New Delhi: August 9, 2004

A thirteen-member National Cadet Corps (NCC) Cadet delegation including one office and nine girls cadets visited United Kingdom under the Youth Exchange Programme of NCC from Jul 20 to Aug 04, 2004. The NCC cadet visited the United Kingdom on the invitation from the cadets and Headquarters Land Command of UK for a duration of 16 days.

During their visit, the NCC cadets participated in the Army, Sea and Air Cadet Corps camps of UK. Apart from this Cadets also visited various educational/training institutes, Palace of Westminster at 10 Downing Street, Buckingham Palace, Madame Tussards & Royal Observatory Greenwich and other various places of tourist interests. They also witnessed Furnborough Air Show, Gliding at Air Cadets Central Gliding School, Submarine Museum, Canoeing, Adventurous training and Field activities.

Col JP Anklesaria was the leader of the team the names of other participants are Sgt Mohanty Ispita, Cadet Senior Under Officer Vishwanath Vishak K Cadet Harne Rucha, Cadet Prasad Dipika, PO Cadet Pandy, Ravi Prakash, Sgt Bhatt Prakya, Sgt Rawal Anupreksha, Senior Under Officer Subramoniam Sriram, Cadet Sudham Shiksha, Cadet Khali Abhishek and Cadet Gulia Chetna.

It is pertinent to mention that Indo-UK Youth Exchange Prgamme had started in the year 1971 and since then it is being conducted every year. The aim of NCC Youth Exchange Programme is to help cadets to understand international relations. It also acts as the third tier of diplomacy by supplementing the efforts of our diplomats and leaders in building bonds of friendship with other friendly nations.

The members of the delegation formally called on the DG NCC, Lt Gen MC Bhandari at New Delhi today who welcomed them back and lauded their efforts in bringing glory to the country.
