Task Force reviews the progress made by different working groups
New Delhi: September 22, 2003

The Task Force on Interlinking of Rivers (TF-ILR) under the Chairmanship of Shri Suresh Prabhu met yesterday to review the progress made by different Working Groups set up to examine specific issues like Legal, Social, Technical, International Dimensions, Environmental, Institutional etc. and to decide upon further action.

As a part of the commitment of the Task Force to ensure transparency on the River linking as a concept, a website was inaugurated by the veteran journalist and a Member of the Task Force Prof. B.G.Verghese. The address of the web-site is www.riverlinks.nic.in.

The Task Force also expressed appreciation of the financial contributions being offered by public, suo-moto, for the ILR programme. However, it was decided to accept these contributions after considering the procedural aspects as to how such contributions are to be dealt with, in consultation with concerned Ministries.
