Free Sale Sugar Quota for October-December released
New Delhi: November 19, 2003

Government has released 11.5 lakh tonnes of sugar for the month of October, 10.5 lakh tonnes for November and 10 lakh tonnes for December, 2003 as quotas for indigenous free sale. With a levy quota of 2.16 lakh tonnes released for each of these three months, the total availability of sugar would be 13.66, 12.66 and 12.16 lakh tonnes respectively in each of these months.

The free sale quotas are meant only for internal consumption and with enough stocks of sugar in hand, Government would not hesitate in releasing further substantial quantities additionally if required.
