Sify and World Vision collaborate for secure Web Initiative

World Vision India chooses Sify as technology partner for Internet initiative to educate donors on issues of poverty and its alleviation.
Mumbai: November 20, 2003
Sify Enterprise Solutions, the corporate services arm of Sify Limited (Nasdaq National Markets: SIFY), India’s premier Internet, networking and eCommerce company, has announced it’s collaboration with World Vision, the world’s largest privately funded Christian relief and development agency.
World Vision India works in more than 6000 communities in the country, regardless of caste, colour, race or religion. It is supported by more than 40,000 Indians contributing regularly to its work, which is community based with sustainable development as its goal.
World Vision decided to use the power of the Internet in order to keep its partners and supporters informed about how their donations are used, as well as to provide a cutting edge gateway for new donors to begin their relationship with the organization. World Vision chose Sify Enterprise Solutions " the only integrated end-to-end e-Solutions provider of network, applications and security in India to realize this objective. For Sify’s cutting edge experience and unmatched expertise in Internet services matched World Vision’s need for a technology partner to create an information and donation portal that will provide this service.
Commenting on the collaboration, Mr. Dipan Bhattacharyya, Vice President, Enterprise Application Services said, "The work, though seemingly simple, was quite challenging as it involves a high level of integration across users, visitors & potential contributors to World Vision India through the site. We are developing a highly secure, customized solution, similar to Sify’s own e-commerce portal, using Sify’s payment gateway for online transactions. Moreover the new World Vision website will be hosted on our level III Internet Data Center for guaranteed uptimes, as well as facilitate disaster recovery in case of any emergency"
Anand Joshua, who leads World Vision’s Direct Response, said, "Research showed that our typical donor was Internet-savvy and would soon be migrating to paying for services on the Internet. Hence, in keeping with our commitment to transparency and donor service, we moved to the Internet to provide information through the fastest channels. Sify, being the leader in the field, was our natural choice."
Sify’s customized solution for World Vision includes a comprehensive site where netizens can not only view World Vision India's programs, but sponsor a child or donate towards a relief fund. Sify will also secure the site with a Verisign Digital Certificate through SafeScrypt, Sify's subsidiary.
Sify Enterprise Solutions is the first and only service provider in India to be ISO 9001:2000 certified in network operations, data center operations and customer relationship management.
