Zinc and Lead production in April & May 2003
New Delhi: June 27, 2003

The total production of Zinc in the months of April and May 2003 has been 42,822 tonnes against the target of 41,654 tonnes. The production of Zinc during the corresponding period of last financial year was 34,949 tonnes. Out of 42,822 tonnes, the Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (HZL) which has 49.92 per cent Govt. of India equity produced 37,472 tonnes and the private sector unit Binani Industries Ltd. (BIL) contributed 5,350 tonnes.

The Lead production in the country during these two months was 6,350 tonnes against 6,212 tonnes produced during the same period last year. It has also crossed the target of 6139 tonnes fixed for April & May. HZL produced the entire 6,350 tonnes.

The total production of Zinc in May was 22,410 tonnes against a target of 22,164 tonnes and Lead 3,177 tonnes against a target of 3,123 tonnes.
