20 Young Indian Scientists for Lindau Meeting with Nobel laureates
New Delhi: June 27, 2003

Twenty young Indian Scientists have been chosen for a round table Conference with Nobel laureates in Lindau Germany, next week. This is the third time India is sending such a team for the week-long meeting of Nobel laureates and budding scientists in Physiology and Medicine related subjects. The Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi launched this programme in 2001, to encourage young researchers and give a boost to their aspirations. It is sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology in collaboration with the Committee for the meeting of Nobel Laureates and students in Lindau, Germany.

Since 1951, such round-table meetings are being organized in scientific disciplines of chemistry, Physics, Physiology or Medicine in Lindau, in turn at intervals of three years.

This year, the meeting dedicated to physiology and Medicine is being attended by 15 Nobel laureates and about 500 young scientists from around the globe and discuss, "Fortune in Medicine," "From basic discovery to clinical practice," "Genes and Embryos," "insights into molecular evolution," etc.

Before leaving for Lindau, the young scientists will have an interaction with Dr. Joshi.
