New Delhi: July 29, 2003

The Central Government has granted the status of Union Cabinet Minister to the Chairman of the National Commission for Backward Classes Shri Justice Ram Surat Singh (Retd.). The status will be personal to Shri Justice Ram Surat Singh (Retd.) for the duration of the term of his Office. Shri Justice Ram Surat Sing (Retd.) was appointed as the Chairman of the National Commission for Backward Classes on 13.8.2002.
