Metro Railway in Andhra Pradesh
New Delhi: July 29, 2003

The Government of Andhra Pradesh has engaged the services of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for introduction of a Metro Rail System in Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

The routes to be covered by the proposed Metro Rail System are: -

1. Miyapur-Kukatpally-Osmania Medical College-Dilsukh Nagar-Chitanyapuri (26.27 kms.) - Corridor No. 1.

2. Secunderabad-Charminar-Falaknuma(13.18 kms.) -Corridor No. 2.

The project cost is estimated at Rs. 3,205 crore at April, 2003 prices. Both corridors are proposed as elevated lines with modern rolling stock and system.

This information was given by Shri Pon. Radhakrishnan, Minister of State for Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation in a written reply to the question of Shri G. Ganga Reddy and Dr. N. Venkataswamy in Lok Sabha today.
