DoT TO POST DRAFT TENDER DOCUMENT ON WEBSITE FOR VPT OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE
New Delhi: January 3, 2003 Department of Telecommunications (DoT) will be posting the Draft Tender Document proposed to be used for inviting bids in respect of Operation and Maintenance of existing Village Public Telephones (VPTs) on its website www.dotindia.com tomorrow, 4th January, 2003 for inviting suggestions/comments from interested parties. The Tender Document has been prepared on the basis of guidelines issued by the Government for implementation of Universal Service Support. It may be recalled that Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had made recommendations on the subject based on detailed consultation process with interested parties. The guidelines were issued after taking into consideration the recommendations of TRAI which gives first priority for extending subsidy support towards operation and maintenance of existing VPTs. The suggestions may be sent on or before 10th January, 2003 to Deputy Administrator (Tech.), USF, DoT on Fax No.2337-2324 or on e-mail: ddgusf@bol.net.in. Press Release by: PIB/CP/BKS/LV
