RAJIV GANDHI KHEL RATNA AWARD - 2001 AND DHYAN CHAND AWARD FOR LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT IN SPORTS AND GAMES - 2002 ANNOUNCED New Delhi - August 24, 2002 The Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award for 2001 goes to Shri Abhinav Bindra in shooting. The Dhyan Chand Award for lifetime achievement in sports and games - 2002 has been given to the following three sportspersons : 1. Shri Ashok Diwan - Hockey 2. Shri Shahuraj Birajder - Boxing 3. Ms. Aparana Ghosh - Basketball. Eminent cricketer Shri Kapil Dev headed the Selection Committees for these two Awards. The Awards will be given on 29th August 2002 by the Hon'ble President of India.
