BHARATENDU HARISHCHANDRA AWARDS ANNOUNCED


New Delhi ~ June 08 2001


The Bharatendu Harishchandra Awards for the year 2000 have been announced. For journalism and mass communication the first prize has been awarded to Dr. Manish Srivastava for his book Hindi Patrakarita Mein Ayodhya Vivad. Shri Shakeel Hasan Shamsi has bagged the second prize for his book Television Samachar. The third prize has been awarded to Shri Vijendra Singh Chauhan and Ms. Rimpi Khillan for their jointly written manuscript Media waIstri: Ek Uttar Vimarsh. Three consolation prizes go to Shri Vinay Kumar for his manuscript

Samakleen Samachar Patra Design Dr. Nishant Singh for his book Vigyapan: Nirman Aur Prakriya and Shri Laliteshwar Prasrd Srivastava for his book Sansad Aur Samvaddata. The first prize is of Rs.35000/- Second prize of Rs. 25000/- Third prize of 20000/-. Consolation prizes are of Rs. 5000/- each. In the children literature category the first prize goes to Shri Mohammad Sajid Khan for his manuscript Marmik Bal Kathaein (Bhag-I) and the second prize to Ms. Chittra Garg for her book Aage Badhti Bharatiya Mahilayen. In the women issue category the first prize has been given to Dr. Kamla Rattu for her manuscript Bharatiya Mahilaein: Nai Sadi Ki Media Kranti Mein. In the National Integration category the first prize has been given to Shri Sudhesh for his manuscript Rashtriya Ekta ke Sopan and the second prize goes to Dr. Kamal Narayan Das for his book Dwarka se Pragjyotish. For all the three categories the first prize consists of Rs. 15000/-and the second prize of Rs.10000/- each. These awards are given by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting to promote original writings in Hindi on journalism and mass communications and other subjects. The Minister of Information & Broadcasting Smt. Sushma Swaraj will present the awards on July 5 2001 in New Delhi.

Bharatendu Harishchandra Awards are awarded every year since 1983 and the Publications division of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is implementing these awards. The Awards for National Integration women Problems and Children Literature are being given under this scheme since 1992.
