Dec 26, 2001 5 pilgrims of Lord Ayyappa died in a road accident at Bhootpur villege on the National Highway 7 in Mahabubnagar. The accident occurred when the Tata Sumo in which they were traveling was hit by a lorry. Dec 22, 2001 A Major disaster was averted when villagers in Pebbair mandal of Rangapur in Mahaboobnagar identified that the water in the nearby water taken was mixed with monocrotophos - a pesticide. The Mandal and District officials immediately reached the place and stopped water supply to the nearby residents.
