August 31, 2001 Naxals of the PWG killed two persons - one of whom is an MPTC Member in Khammam district. August 30, 2001 Naxals of the Peoples War Group attacked the Police Station at Kalamola in Khammam District. August 11, 2001 A Navy Boat overturned in Godavari River near Dummugudam in Khammam District. The Boat was installed for the Navy personnel who came there for excursion. August 8, 2001 The Khammam Superindentent of Police, Mr. K Rajarathnam Naidu recommended the dismissal of the Special Protection force head constable who was involved in a case relating to a rape of a girl. May 27, 2001 5 dead bodies were recovered from the debris of the crashed engineering college building that is under construction in Khammam district. Minister Sri T Nageswara Rao visited the patients and monitored their condition. He said that an enquiry will be made into the issue. He said that the Engineering College has been making the constructions as the dead line for the construction of the permanent colleges was fast approaching. Most of the dead were Coolies who worked at the construction site while many more were still under the debris. The relatives of the patients say the lack of quality in the construction works was the main reason for the collapse. May 3, 2001 Another farmer died of consuming poison in Khammam district. The farmer had a normal Paddy and Red Gram crop but has too many debts to be cleared.
