Congress & Left Parties stages Dharna
Congress and Left Parties staged a Dharna in Anantapur District against the politics being played by Telugu Desam Party. Senior Leaders including APCC President Sri M Satyanarayana Reddy, CLP Leader Sri Rajasekhar Reddy, PCC Spokesman Sri Rosayya, CPM Central Committee Member Sri K Satyanarayana, CPI Secretary Sri Naryana and MLA's from various districts took part in the dharna.

Two people died on the spot due to heavy burns when some unknown persons have set fire to the hut in which they were sleeping. This incident took place in Gorantla area of Anantapur district.

The Mandal President of Yadiki area of Anantapur district,Mr. Bala Satish was murdered by his opposition party activists when he was returning in his Tata Sumo. He was earlier attacked with bombs.

A Naxal of the CPI(ML) RedStar group was nabbed by the police in Anantapur District. A six chamber revolver was recovered from him.

The Prasanthi Express was robbed for the second consecutive day between the Pathakothacheruvu and Gooty Railway stations. The train runs between Visakhapatnam and Bangalore.

Counterfeit Current to a tune of Rs.4,400 in 100's denomination were recovered by the Central Crime Station of Anantapur and busted a racket. About 10 people were held.
