Police arrested some college students who were involved in creating tension in the campus and throwing stones at the Police yesterday. They verified the student hostels. With holidays announced, many students began leaving the hostels and going to their home place. Local political parties came to convince the students but was of no use. September 13, 2003 Governor of Andhra Pradesh Surjeet Singh Barnala visited the holy shrine of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala. He will also be visiting Sri Kalahasti Temple as a part of the 3-day visit to the area. September 6, 2003 Cheetah captured in Tirupati A cheetah was captured at Venkateswara colony in Tirupati. The captured cheetah was taken to Sri Venkateswara Zoological Part. The Forest Department has setup cages to capture the beast for over a week as people began to panic whenever the animal creates panic in the area. District Forest Officer said that Krishnayya since the animal is a Schedule 1 animal, the State Officer Hitesh Malhotra was consulted and a written order was to be received as to where the animal is to be taken. He said that generally such animals will be released in a reserve forest.
