One person died in Nellore drinking spurious liquor. Ramanayya - a laborer bought brandy from a liquor shop with the money he earned from his day work. Police began investigating the case. All brandy shops in the region were closed for the day.

2 elders were found murdered in Nellore. The reasons for their murders were unknown. Nellore SP visited the site and said that investigation will take place.

Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials began investigation at the illegal accumulation of wealth of a Joint Commissioner of the Commercial Taxes Department Mr. GB Gopala Rao. The Municipal Commissioner of Gudur in Nellore and an Assistant Engineering were arrested for taking bribe for showing favor to an Advertising agency.

ISRO's GSAT 2 experiment successful
Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has succeeded in launching D2 version of the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) and allowed into GSAT 2 satellite to be placed into orbit at around 4:58 PM from the Satish Dhavan Space Center, Sriharikota in Nellore. The GSAT 2 satellite is India's new communication satellite.

"It is a great day - What a classic text book we have today.."
- felt Chairman of ISRO, Dr. Kasturi Rangan.

He said that the launch is 'a major mile stone for ISRO and a proud technology achievement'. He said that this launch has brought full confidence of the vehicle for carrying 2000 kg class of satellites.

Dr. Madhavan Nayar of Vikram Sarabhai Space Research Center, Prof. Sathish Dhavan, Prof. Narasimha, Dr. Srinivasan, Dr. Kisley were present at the center at the time of launch.

Andhrite clears IAS from Telugu medium study - becomes first to do so
Mr. Y Bhanupraksh Reddy of Nellore became the first from Andhra Pradesh to have been selected for IAS from Telugu medium. Mr. Reddy stood first from Andhra Pradesh and stands at 9th in National level list of IAS recently qualified recently. Mr. Reddy's continued determination and efforts despite having failed in Interviews twice.
